ICT4D Portfolio Strategy

Bosnia and Herzegovina becomes the center of the Initiative for Development of Information Society in Southeastern Eourope

Together with partners in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely the Ministry for Communications and Transport, and the international community - the Stability Pact for SEE, EC and others, UNDP BiH successfully organized the Regional Conference on Information Society Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Project launch: eGovernment at the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Along with the other Western Balkans countries, BiH has taken the historical step to move toward EU integration. This, among other factors, is leading to public sector reforms, one of the key dimensions being the government reform by strengthening the eGovernment services through the use of information and communication technology (ICT), and the public finance management system towards a more complete, accountable and transparent financial resources planning, management, auditing and reporting.

e-Readiness Assessment Report

Second eReadiness Report for Bosnia and Herzegovina shows a significant improvement in development of information society in this country. Unlike the last report, done in 2002, when the Internet penetration was 4,5%, the data for 2005 has dramatically jumped to 22%; the Report also shows the major shift in the number of government officials using computers from 47% to 59,5% and some other improvements in different sectors of Information Society.

Second eGovernment Conference - Domestic Solutions for eGovernment

Civil Service Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations Development Programme, along with leading industry partners are organizing Second eGovernment Conference - Domestic Solutions for eGovernment.

Conference will take place on 9th and 10th of November 2005, starting at 9:00 o'clock in Large Conference Room at the Joint Institutions Building at Marin Dvor, 1 Bosnia and Herzegovina Square, Sarajevo.

UNDP and the Foreign Trade Chamber launched the Global Compact Network in BiH

9/19/2005 - United Nations Development Programme and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina launched the Global Compact Initiative in this country today. The Global Compact promotes responsible corporate citizenship so that business can be part of the solution to the challenges presented by globalization. In this way, the private sector – in partnership with civil society and UN – can help create more sustainable and inclusive global economy.

Distance Learning for Judges and Prosecutors in BiH

UNDP BiH Supports Entity Centers for Education of Judges and Prosecutors

02/06/2005 Thanks to UNDP support, a distant learning system for judges and prosecutors in BiH will become operational by the end of this year. The trainings will be done through entity training centers for Judges and Prosecutors, allowing higher quality of training and better technical and professional work of these centers.

UNDP helps entity Centers for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training

12/22/2004 - UNDP BiH supports Centers for judicial and prosecutorial training in RS and FBiH through the e-Legislation Reform Project. UNDP will provide centers with computers and digital cameras and will also develop the web portal. Assistance to judicial centers includes a provision of study trip to Norway for best practices exchange, law books and an intern for judges and prosecutors training improvement.
